Data we collect

When you send a request through the website

When you fill in a form, such as the factory audit request, we store what you enter: your name, company, country, phone or WhatsApp number and email address, details of the factory or supplier and the product, and the details of your request and your notes. We also store the page language, your IP address and your browser type to protect our forms against automated and repeated submissions.

When you contact us directly

If you message us on WhatsApp or WeChat or by email, we receive the details, messages and attachments you send. Those apps have their own privacy policies.

When you browse the website

We record page visits with our own analytics system, which runs on our servers rather than through external analytics or advertising services. It records your IP address and the approximate country derived from it, the page you visited, the site language and your browser language, the page or search engine you came from and any search term included in that link, and your device type, browser and operating system. We also record clicks on contact links, such as the WhatsApp button, to understand which channels visitors prefer.

Cookies and browser storage

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Our website sets the following:

• av: a random visitor ID kept for one year, so our statistics can tell new visitors from returning ones.
• as: a random session ID kept for 30 minutes, to group the pages of a single visit.
• shumul_lang: kept for one year; it remembers the language you chose so the site is shown to you in it.shumul_css: kept for one year; it records which style files your browser has saved, so pages load faster on later visits.
• fqd: kept for 30 days; it saves the draft of a form you have not finished, so you can return to it later.
• shumul-theme: kept in your browser’s local storage; it remembers whether you chose the light or dark mode.

Cloudflare, the network that protects our website, may set strictly necessary security cookies to tell visitors from automated programs. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, and the website will keep working.

How we use data

• To answer your requests and enquiries and provide the services you ask for, including contacting you about your request.
• To manage and follow up requests internally, including sending a notice of each new request to our company mailbox.
• To protect the website and its forms from abuse and automated submissions.
• To understand how the website is used and improve its content and performance.

We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

Who we share data with

• Technical service providers that run the website: our hosting company, Cloudflare for protection and speed, and the email provider that delivers request notices. They process data only to provide their service.
• Factories, suppliers and shipping companies, only as far as needed to carry out a service you requested, such as arranging a factory visit or booking a shipment.
• Authorities, when the law requires us to.

The interactive markets map loads two open-source code libraries from unpkg.com, so your IP address reaches that network when the map is shown.

Where data is stored

We are a company in China. Our website is hosted with a provider whose servers may be located outside China and outside your country, and visits pass through Cloudflare’s global network. Your data may therefore be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, and we take reasonable measures to protect it wherever it is processed.

How long we keep data

We keep request data for as long as it is needed to follow up your request, maintain our business relationship and records, and meet our legal obligations. We keep analytics data for as long as it is useful for understanding how the website is used. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

How we protect data

The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Requests and statistics can be viewed only by authorised members of our team through a password-protected admin panel that logs sign-in attempts. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Access the data we hold about you and receive a copy.
• Correct or complete inaccurate data.
• Delete your data, unless the law requires us to keep it.
• Object to or restrict the processing of your data, or withdraw your consent where processing is based on it.
